The 'Map of the City and Liberties of Philadelphia' is printed on linen in three sections that are sewn together with views of Pennsylvania Hospital, the State House and the House of Employment and Alms House. It has an alphabetical listing of the names and occupations of the first purchases of lots in Philadelphia and the 'Liberties' (beyond the city limits). The 'Liberties ' were in dispute by 1774 because the same land had been given to more than one property holder.
